In this Thesis Series, I explored Gothic literature and the history behind cornerstone figures and aspects of the Genre. This series includes illustrations of popular Gothic Literature stories such as Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray and Poe's The Masque of the Red Death, portraits of real women who either wrote or inspired gothic literature tropes, such as Mary Shelley the author of Frankenstein and Elizabeth Bathory otherwise known under the Moniker Lady Dracula due to her pension for bathing in Blood. Lastly the series, Includes the real practices of the Victorian Era that gave way to themes of Gothic literature such as the mourning rituals of the 1800's and the fascination with Ghost Hoax photography as popularized by Mumler and the Spiritualist movement.
